Major change in DUI cases
Beginning in July of 2012 a person convicted of a first offense DUI will be required to get an ignition interlock system (breathalyzer in the car) on their automobile as a condition of obtaining a restricted driver's license. If you or anyone you know has been charged with a DUI make sure you are represented by an attorney passionate about defending your rights and not treating your case as just another traffic infraction.

New Eminent Domain Amendment to Virginia Constitution
On election day the people of Virginia voted to adopt a modification to the Bill of Rights under the Constitution of Virginia. The amendment prevents the General Assembly from acquiring land through eminent domain unless it is for "public use". The new language states that "[a] taking or damaging of private property is not for public use if the primary use is for private gain, private benefit, private enterprise, increasing jobs, increasing tax revenue, or economic development, except for the elimination of a public nuisance existing on the property."
